Upgrade Checklist
Before upgrading to Virtual Iron 4.3, please review the brief upgrade
training module below:
- If you are upgrading from v4.2, click
here.
- If you are upgrading from v4.0 or 4.1, click
here.
- If you are upgrading from v3.x, continue below.
Once you have gone through this checklist, request your installation
links at the bottom of this page. If you have a test environment, we recommend
upgrading there first. If you do not have a staging environment you can
proceed and will be successful but adhere to safeguards provided below.
- If you are upgrading production systems you are aware that all upgrades
come with risk and we want to ensure you have backups of Virtual Servers
that have been tested for all production Virtual Servers. If you do
not currently have backups it may be a good time to do a full backup
before the upgrade. If you do not have tools you already use for backup
you may use the Virtual Iron export feature to store Virtual Servers
in the VHD format.
- If you are running Virtual Iron Version 3.x, you must upgrade
to 4.2.
- Run a full backup of the Virtual Iron server and relocate the backup
off of the management server for safekeeping (see the Policies and Reports
in the Management Guide for more information) before upgrading.
- Please review the Virtual Iron 4.3 Upgrade Steps and Release
Notes for both the Virtualization Manager server and VSTools.
- Virtual Iron has Services Partners that offer upgrade services if
you wish to have additional consultation and on-site assistance to upgrade.
